I followed your comment back to you...Papageiena --

I followed your comment back to your website. Love your drawings -- they bristle with energy -- but anyway you look at it, the traffic out here sucks.

Bosko --

Yeah, leaving early is the best way to avoid the nightmare, but sometimes the Gods of Hollywood conspire against the best of plans. I share your head-shaking wonder at commuters who live out there in Palm-caster -- those people have a lot more patience that I do.

Goodsound --

I've tried the Cahuenga Blvd shuffle many times, but it doesn't always work out, especially when coming in from Studio City. Highland can work for my side of town, especially if they haven't blocked off Camrose -- going up, over, and down bypasses a Gordian Knot of terminal gridlock. There are no good options, really, so it's a matter of picking your poison and living with it until you finally make it home.

Thanks, everybody, for tuning in...Michael Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02569781786039595929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8078779326914378322.post-62048732917755474132009-08-24T22:16:12.203-07:002009-08-24T22:16:12.203-07:00Mike,

Even if it takes you a few blocks further East than you want to end up it will be much faster.
---CGGoodsoundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16831265375070896634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8078779326914378322.post-62907967440196731592009-08-23T23:26:58.467-07:002009-08-23T23:26:58.467-07:00Living (as much you can live in the valley) in Van...Living (as much you can live in the valley) in Van Nuys, the worst thing is an 8 am call at Sony or Fox. The only solution I've found so far has been to get on the 405 no later than 6 am and then make an easy 15 minute drive to the West side of L.A.
Once there, I go into a restaurant and eat a small breakfast while doing the Times crossword, then make an easy city street drive to arrive early to the lot, with no stress, no white knuckles, no desire to strangle the phone yakking moron in the raised up 4 wheeler with brush bars that will only go off road when it's entering it's own garage at home.
Every 15 minutes after 6 am that I leave home will nearly double the drive time, I'm sure there's a mathematical name like "exponential" or something for that but it escapes me at the moment. On the flip side, when I have an early call in Palmdale or Lancaster, it's 80 MPH all the way there passing that inbound long thin parking lot that is the 14 / 405. What can they be thinking?
The only blessing in working the long hours we do is that I'm seldom on the way home before 9 pm which means the rush hour is over, or at least it is so far since it's still growing longer every year.
Cheers,
Jerry
www.boskolives.wordpress.comBoskoLiveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13774707513500508357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8078779326914378322.post-38173038254495977622009-08-23T20:39:43.772-07:002009-08-23T20:39:43.772-07:00Ah sweet horrible memories of traffic. Any time traffic started, I'd kill time in a Denny's or figure out the side streets. Worth a try if you have the time. :)Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00206116964817643529noreply@blogger.com
